Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a visitor enters a name or case number in a search box, the request is sent to the provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any result through its own system. Houston County Court Docket does not maintain a separate log of the individual search terms entered into those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission supplies the information included in that message. It may be retained so a response can be provided and the request can be handled. It is not sold or shared outside the organization except when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the service.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical information is commonly recorded when a visitor loads a page, both to operate the service and to understand performance:
- The IP address used for the connection.
- The browser, browser version, device type, and operating system.
- Pages viewed and the approximate time spent on each page.
- The referring page or service, when one is provided.
- Timestamps associated with page requests.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small data files that a browser can store on a device. They can support traffic measurement, help identify technical problems, and show which pages receive use. Analytics providers may process aggregated visit data for those purposes. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although some functions may then operate differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, secure, and improve the service.
- Route a submitted search to the selected partner tool.
- Measure traffic and identify pages that need maintenance.
- Diagnose loading, compatibility, and security problems.
- Support advertising that may be based on general visitor interests.
No Court-Record Data on File
Houston County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Houston County case files, Registers of Actions, or personal case information. It provides general information about official access routes through Houston County District Court / Court Administration and Minnesota Court Records Online. Minnesota Statutes §13.90 places judiciary records under the Minnesota Supreme Court's public-access rules rather than the ordinary Chapter 13 data-practices framework.
The Minnesota Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch govern records held by the judiciary, including inspection, copies, remote access, redaction, and restricted categories. They do not convert this private reference resource into a court-record custodian. Houston County Court Docket is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and does not assemble visitor information into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes may be supplied by outside providers. Information submitted to one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy notice, retention rules, and sharing practices. Houston County Court Docket does not control those terms. Review the provider's own policy before entering information or creating an account.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Minnesota Judicial Branch pages, Houston County resources, MCRO, legal-aid organizations, or third-party services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the receiving organization's privacy practices apply. Personal information should be shared only after reviewing the policy of the destination service.
Advertising providers can collect activity across websites for their own ad-delivery purposes. That activity occurs under the provider's systems and policies, not under the control of Houston County Court Docket.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Depending on how the service is used, limited information may be processed by:
- Search providers that receive a query submitted through their tool.
- Analytics services used to measure traffic or performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver advertisements.
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal obligation requires disclosure.
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect the information handled by the service. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed fully secure. Although safeguards are maintained, an absolute promise against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure cannot be made.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor supplied personal information, they may request its removal through the contact channel.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota Statutes §13.90 and the Minnesota Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch address judiciary-held court records, not a general visitor-data right against a private reference resource. Subject to applicable law and verification of a request, a visitor may still ask for access to personal information held by Houston County Court Docket, correction of inaccurate information, deletion where appropriate, or an explanation of certain processing choices.
- Request a copy of personal information retained about the requester.
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Request deletion of personal information where applicable.
- Ask about available choices concerning certain data processing.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the service, its partners, or applicable practices change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after a posted revision is subject to the updated policy.
